Each review here applies the same seven-dimension rubric: coverage breadth, detection accuracy, deployment friction, policy and control depth, framework alignment, pricing transparency, and customer support and documentation. Reviews are grouped by category for navigation; the rubric is identical across categories.
narrow but fast: prompt inspection in front of ChatGPT & Claude, zero deployment.
visibility-first AI governance and DLP, MCP gateway, lightweight end-user agent.
AI-native DLP with strong healthcare and HIPAA heritage & a January 2026 product launch.
unified AI security at the network layer with intent-based controls.
guardrails-layer GenAI security, integrates with LiteLLM and other proxies.
SaaS-heritage shadow AI discovery, including AI features inside SaaS apps.
fast-deploy Shadow AI Detection module (30 minutes) plus a broader AI-first enterprise platform.
Runtime defense plus red-teaming combo; known for the Gandalf prompt injection challenge.
Each review is structured the same way: TL;DR verdict, score breakdown by methodology dimension, what it does well, where it falls short, best fit and poor fit, pricing transparency note, alternatives, FAQ.
The score is the weighted average across the seven dimensions; the narrative explains the dimensions that drive it.
Two reading patterns we recommend:
Use the score and the comparison tables in the Best Of lists to shortlist three products, then read the full reviews for those three. This is the fastest path from "category is unfamiliar" to "shortlist of three to evaluate.
Skip to the "Best fit" and "Poor fit" sections of three or four reviews to identify which product matches your buyer profile, then read the full reviews for those that match. This is the most useful path for buyers who already know the category structure.
Quarterly updates when our Best Of lists are refreshed, plus a short note when a vendor ships a material change or we revise a score. No promotional email.
The reviews index lists all reviewed products as of the most recent update. Products are added when they pass our category fit and review-backlog screen; products are removed only when they exit the market entirely (acquisition into a different product line, end-of-life). Reviews of acquired products are kept with an updated note explaining the acquisition; we do not silently delete reviews to clean up the list.
Several products that buyers occasionally ask about are intentionally not on this index. CalypsoAI was acquired by F5 in October 2025 and is no longer marketed as a standalone product; we use HiddenLayer as the comparison target for buyers evaluating against another full-platform vendor. We do not yet review open-source AI security tools as standalone entries; they appear in reviews when relevant to a commercial product.
